Time, Shapes, and Fractions as Equal Parts of
Shapes
In this final unit, the
children will expand upon their understanding of geometry. They will compose (make) and decompose (take apart/separate) shapes. They will also begin to develop an understanding of unit
fractions (fractions with one in the numerator) as equal part of a whole. The
students will also be relating fractional parts of a circle to the minutes on a
clock.

June Word Study
Unit 17
This is our last unit for 2nd Grade. In this unit, the students will be learning the last syllable type which is the consonant -le syllable. This syllable type always comes at the end of a multisyllabic word such as bubble or bicycle.
This syllable always has 3 letters: a consonant, the letter l, and the letter e.
Trick Words
Week 1: laugh, favorite, sugar
Knowing all six syllable types will help your child to read and spell. We encourage your child to use all the spelling rules and skills over the summer.
